This week's issue of My New Roots is about Course Enrolment! Enrolling in courses can be quite stressful for students, even upper-year students get a little frazzled every summer when it's time to select their courses. Fear not, this week, we will highlight some key course enrolment dates and tips on how to best prepare for that big day.

Getting Ready for Course Enrolment
Course enrolment is a time period in which students at U of T select and register for the classes they will attend for the upcoming term and the year. It happens every summer and there are many factors to consider such as, degree requirements, interests, availability, location, and so much more!
FUN FACT: Some students refer to the first day of Course Enrolment as the the "Hunger Games!"
Where to start...
For a quick introduction to how course enrolment works, check out the enrolment page in the New Student's Guide! For more in-depth information on course enrolment, log in to the New Student Academic Hub where you can explore modules that will teach you everything you need to know before classes start.
The New College Registrar's Office is also a great resource to ask question to when it comes to course enrolment. You can email them at newcollege.registrar@utoronto.ca or call (416) 978-2460.

Accessibility Services Registration
Use the New College Registrar's Course Enrolment Workbook to learn about degree requirements for an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) and Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA), choose your first year courses, plan your class schedule, and review instructions for course enrolment.
Need help planning your first-year courses? Join our online Ask an Advisor sessions! These group advising opportunities are designed for you to ask questions after reviewing the Student Academic Hub modules. All newly admitted first-year students are welcome, regardless of admission category.
Accessibility Services provides individualized academic accommodations and supports for students facing learning difficulties in lectures, labs, and tutorials. If you suspect you may have a disability affecting your learning, consider registering with Accessibility Services, the registration deadline is July 13th
WHEN is Course Enrolment?
Everyone has a specific time when they are able to enrol in courses during the Priority Enrolment Period for First-Year students. You can now check your enrolment time on ACORN.
Once you know your start time, log into ACORN at that specific time on July 16 to enrol in courses.
General Enrolment Period Begins: July 25
- This is when students can enrol in courses that were closed off to them during the Priority Enrolment Period

Commuter Orientation
Calling all incoming commuter students! The Office of Residence and Student Life is excited to welcome you to our in-person Commuter Orientation on July 15th, 2026, from 10am to 4pm! In this full day orientation program, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with your peers, hear from upper-year commuters about their tips and tricks for commuting, participate in games and activities, and take a tour of the best commuter-friendly spots on campus!
