Here you will find a recording of our latest meeting, along with a summary of the topic discussed and information on the next meeting. Coordinated by Active Lancashire Recording of the Lancs CPAN MeetingThe meeting focused on the future of School Sport Partnership Networks and related developments. Mark Stevenson provided an update confirming that the government announced in June plans to establish new School Sport Partnership Networks across England from September 2026. These networks will aim to reintegrate PE, sport, and physical activity into both curricular and extracurricular provision, ensure universal access for all pupils, and raise the quality and standards of PE and school sport with a strong emphasis on inclusion and equity. A national tender worth £15 million is currently underway to appoint a lead organisation by April 2026, which will oversee the rollout of these networks. In Lancashire, the current landscape is inconsistent, with some districts having well-established partnerships and others relying on a single School Games Organiser. The new model is intended to create a universal and equitable offer across all localities. The PE and Sport Premium is under review by the Department for Education, but no decisions have been made as yet. Active Lancashire has formed a working group with partners including Lancashire County Council, Youth Sport Trust, and the Association for PE to prepare for these changes. The below briefing document is available to help communicate consistent messages. 🔗School Sport Network Briefing October 2025 Next steps include awaiting further details following the autumn budget and spending review in November. Active Lancashire will continue to update partners and maintain stability during this transition. Next Lancs CPAN Meeting
At our next meeting, we will be joined by Dani Halsall from CIMSPA who will be introducing the Lancashire Sport & Physical Activity Local Skills Plan following an extensive consultation over the previous 12 months. The plan will focus on four key recommendations for 2025–2028 to develop a skilled, diverse sport and physical activity workforce in Lancashire by creating tailored development opportunities, enhancing collaboration among stakeholders, boosting community health and economic impact through strategic partnerships, and establishing a data-driven approach to inform continuous improvement and decision-making. Additionally we will be taking soundings on the proposed Active Lancashire consultation on the role of PA and Sport, within a Cultural context to the LGR and Devolution Lancashire Offer. We will be talking through the process we intend to undertake to support conversations across Authorities over the coming development and transition period. We look forward to seeing you there! |
