VOLUNTEER AT THE NORTHBROOK GRAND PRIX!

Be part of the action at one of the summer’s most exciting events in Northbrook! This high-energy cycling event draws racers and spectators from across the region—and we need your help to make it a success!

Whether you can assist with registration, course marshaling, or simply offer a helping hand, there’s a spot for you. No prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and community spirit.

E-BIKE SAFETY OPEN HOUSES

You're invited to attend one of our upcoming E-Bike Open House meetings with the Police Department to talk about E-Bike safety, education, and enforcement in Northbrook.

 - Wednesday, July 9 | 11am–12pm
 - Village Hall Board Room (1225 Cedar Lane)

Celebrate the Fourth of July in Northbrook – Tomorrow!

Event Website

Start the holiday with energy at the Liberty Loop 5K and kids’ Liberty Lap, stepping off at 7:30 a.m. at Techny Prairie Park. At 4pm, enjoy the Fourth of July Parade, starting near Westmoor School, heading down Cherry Lane and ending at Village Hall. 

The day wraps up at Meadowhill Park and Techny Prairie Park with DJ entertainment at 7pm at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome, followed by a spectacular fireworks show at dusk.

LRS Service: If your regular refuse or recycling pickup is on Friday, your LRS service will be delayed by one day due to the holiday. 

Village Closures: All non-emergency Village offices will be closed Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of the independence Day holiday. 

 
 

PLASTIC FREE JULY 2025

This July, Northbrook residents are invited to be part of a global effort to reduce single-use plastics. What started in 2011 with just 40 people in Australia has grown to over 174 million participants worldwide. Cut Your Utility Bills: Free CUB Counseling Event
Wednesday, July 9, 4–6pm
2450 Waukegan Road, Northfield, IL

Join Citizens Utility Board (CUB), Northfield Township, The Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation, and 9th District Illinois State Senator Laura Fine for a free event offering tips to lower your utility bills and access clean energy programs. Participants will meet one-on-one with a CUB counselor for a personalized bill analysis. Spots are limited—register in advance by calling 847-724-8300 ext. 217.

 

Draft Zoning Code Public Hearing

Village Hall 
The Northbrook Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on the Draft Zoning Code on July 15 at 7:30pm in the Village Hall Board Room. Interested residents are encouraged to attend. Learn more here. 

 

Northbrook Grand Prix
Thursday, July 24 from 11am-8pm

Northbrook hosts a leg of Chicago Grit, the nation’s largest road racing series, on Thursday, July 24. Cyclists from around the world will race through downtown in thrilling high-speed criterium races. The 1.1-kilometer course loops around Village Green Park, showcasing Northbrook’s strong cycling community and the historic Ed Rudolph Velodrome. Learn more at chicago-grit.com.

 

Electronics Recycling 
First Tuesday & Saturday of the Month
Fleet Maintenance Garage, 1227 Cedar Lane
Bring your old and unused electronics to be recycled. Residents are responsible for removing items from their vehicles. Do not leave items at the Village’s facility outside of the recycling events. 1st Tuesday of the month, 7am-3pm & 1st Saturday of the month, 9am-noon.

Capture the beauty of Northbrook during this week-long outdoor painting event, August 8–16. The experience wraps up with an art show and sale at Party on the Green on August 16 at Village Green Park.

West Nile Virus Found in Northbrook Mosquito Trap 

The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District (NSMAD) has detected West Nile virus in a mosquito batch collected in Northbrook. While the risk of infection is low at this time, NSMAD recommends using EPA-registered insect repellent, wearing loose clothing, avoiding dawn/dusk peak mosquito hours, and eliminating standing water on your property.
