In a notable policy shift, the IRS has announced a narrow exception to the Johnson Amendment, allowing houses of worship to speak about political candidates during religious services without risking their tax-exempt status. However, the broader prohibition on political endorsements remains fully in effect for all other 501(c)(3) nonprofits, including faith-based organizations that are not classified as houses of worship. The announcement underscores that most nonprofits are still barred from endorsing or opposing political candidates. Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta's Legal Bootcamp for Emerging Nonprofit Leaders application is now OPEN! 

This program is open to executive directors committed to a career in the nonprofit field who are new to their position and/or are currently running an emerging nonprofit that assists low-income or disadvantaged communities in Metro Atlanta. Participants are selected through a competitive application process. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until spaces have been filled, with a deadline of August 22, 2025. This program is only offered once a year and is limited to 25 participants.
