Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Partners,

At Reach Sober Living, we are committed to building bridges to recovery and purpose. What began as a single sober home has grown into a network of recovery-focused sober living residences.

Thanks to your belief and support, Reach now operates two MARR (Michigan Association of Recovery Resources) certified sober homes for men as well as our first independent living apartment quadplex, The Villas at Engleman.

Demand remains high; all of our residences are at capacity and maintain waiting lists, so our expansion must continue.

Later this year, we will break ground on The Thompson House, a newly constructed two-family duplex designed for couples in recovery. This model enables partners to continue their sobriety journeys together while receiving essential support, resources, and renewed hope.

In 2027, we will begin the first phase of the Phoenix Landing project. Phoenix is a downtown mixed-use development, including recovery-focused apartments, which will be transformational for Reach and the wider recovery community. 

We will share more details about the project and opportunities to get involved very soon.

A LOOK AT REACH'S HISTORY

LESSONS LEARNED IN LEADERSHIP

Reflecting on the last 5 years of Reach Sober Living's growth, a few key lessons come to mind:

1. Community partnerships are imperative – Without strong partnerships, sustainable recovery is nearly impossible. When we collaborate with local organizations, businesses, and stakeholders, our individuals in recovery have access to the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive.
    
2. Staff with lived experience are invaluable – Lived experience fosters trust, connection, and peer support. Having team members who have personally navigated the path of recovery brings an unmatched level of trust and understanding.
    
3. Collaboration with treatment providers and centers is essential – Recovery doesn’t end when treatment does. It’s a continuum, and by working closely with treatment providers and rehabilitation centers, we bridge the gap between treatment and independent living.

WHAT DOES OUR FUTURE LOOK LIKE?

• Finalize funding for, and begin the construction of, The Thompson House (recovery housing for married couples).
• Break ground on The Thompson House.
• Secure funding for the sector-changing Phoenix Landing project. Stay tuned for more details!

• Reach Sober Living breaks ground on Phoenix Landing.

Every dollar invested in Reach transforms an individual from crisis to stability. Funding our projects doesn’t just add beds—it creates sustainable pathways to employment, recovery support, and community reintegration.

THE DIFFERENCE AT REACH SOBER LIVING

At Reach, financial literacy coaching is vital in the social recovery housing model. We deliver practical financial education that complements recovery capital—helping residents of all backgrounds build credit, employment readiness, budgeting skills, and long-term financial stability. These tools reduce relapse risk, support sustained independence, and multiply the impact of clinical and peer support.

The Reality We Face

• Sober living options are critically low. MDHHS (Michigan Department of Health & Human Services) data reports that every year, over 7,000 individuals leave treatment centers without a safe and stable living option available.
• Operational costs continue to rise, and without stable funding, we risk limiting access to services for those who need them most.

Our goal is to expand our funding partnerships to ensure consistent, high-quality care for all Reach residents.
