Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Let me take this opportunity to wish all of you a Happy New Year.

2023 marks the 70th Anniversary of AEC. Much has changed in the world, in the performing arts profession and in higher music education since that time. It is notable, however, that the passion, zeal and dedication of our founders live on in our current members, as we all work hard in our mission to nurture future generations of creative artists.

To celebrate this significant anniversary year as part of a wider programme of celebration, in the AEC monthly newsletter we will feature 12 individuals that contributed to AEC's history and mission. We start with a reflection from former President Eirik Birkeland.

I also wish to thank most sincerely those colleagues who have contributed to our AECforUkraine fundraiser, for electric generators. We have made great progress and have extended the closing date for support to mid-February by the members' request. You can contribute here.

Best wishes,

Deborah Kelleher, AEC President
