MARINE BUSINESS NEWS UPDATE

NEWS UPDATE

03 June 2022

Publishers note

Accolades continue to roll in for the Gold Coast festivities, and rightly so.  For those that attended, if you are like me, you will hopefully have come away with many many ideas and opportunities.

Standing still, and same ol same ol, doesn’t really cut it in this new world of doing business. By no means am I saying that successful businesses need to turn things onto their head and start again; what I am saying is that new ideas, fresh inspiration and seeking a better way of doing things make for a good future.

In saying that, I haven’t been able to hit the ground running as I had hoped on my return.  I seem to have returned with an unexpected souvenir (COVID), and in sending apology emails to colleagues for not getting back to them since my return, it appears that I am not alone.  This is the new world – we have to grin and bear it.

Hemingway and the guy from the Canaries

Macho and quarrelsome, he was saved by the tales he created in the minds of those who read him. I came across “The Old Man and the Sea” when I was 13 years old, and throughout reading it, I developed an admiration for the fish, a dislike and fascination for sharks, a compassion for Santiago and a certain boredom at the long description of his thoughts.
