Did you know that bumper cars were not supposed to hit each other? Originally, bumper car drivers needed to dodge each other inside the circuit. In 1920, Dodgem Corp. patented the first bumper car, and those early prototypes weren’t as strong as today’s, so riders had to swerve to avoid collisions.
