Friday Edition
Good morning, members! And a very happy Friday to you all. I (Maddie) am joining you all on this fine morning because Vella is off sick! Of course, I hope she gets better soon, but my goodness it feels good to be chatting with you all on a Friday! How have you all been? Is anyone getting up to anything exciting this weekend? I am. I am heading out of Sydney and getting back in touch with nature folks because my goodness I need a recharge! I know everyone feels busy and tired at this time of the year, but I honestly feel like I am crawling to the finish line. And you know what always helps with that feeling? Getting out into nature. There’s absolutely nothing better than a few ocean swims, cooking over the fire, sleeping under the stars and just being surrounded by your closest friends and family. I’m really looking forward to it, and I hope you have something to look forward to as well,
but if you don’t, that’s what we are here for, right?! We are here to bring a little bit of joy to your daily lives. First, let’s get started with today’s riddle.
This riddle was sent in by member Dennis R. and I think it’s quite challenging, so I’m feeling extra nice this morning and I’m going to give you all a hint… The riddle goes:
Who will never be hungry during Christmas?
I feel like there could be a few answers to this one, so I hope my hint narrows it down a bit. ‘Who’ is not a person, it’s something you can eat. Have a good, long, hard think about this one ladies and gents. I feel like my hint may have given away the answer! But I’ll just have to wait and see. If you think you know the answer to this riddle, post it on our forum here. If you get the answer correct, you’ll score yourself a shout-out in tomorrow’s newsletter. Not too shabby, eh?

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is brought to you by the lovely member, @Lizzylou. Here’s the memory @Lizzylou shared with us as her entry into our Christmas competition, ‘My best memory of Christmas is when I was a small child, I would go to bed with my sock at the end of the bed and excited to see what Santa would bring in my stocking. I would wake up and check my stocking and then rush out to the lounge/dining area and be amazed at the transformation, the tree was up, decorations on the ceiling, the fire crackling away and presents under the tree. I never knew till I was much older that mum stayed up all night to turn our house into a magical place, with
the fire roaring away making the room toasty and warm. It was an exciting time for a small child. Something I will never forget.’
Wow, this sounds like the most beautiful memory, @Lizzylou! I just adore how dedicated your mother was to making Christmas so magical. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all!

Matagarup Bridge, Swan River, Perth
How fantastic is this shot that was taken by member @BarryR? I had no idea this bridge existed! Mind you, I’ve never been to Perth, but every time I hear something new about the city, it makes me want to go even more. Here’s the caption @BarryR posted with the photo, ‘The Matagarup Bridge is a suspension pedestrian bridge over the Swan river in Perth. It provides pedestrian access between East Perth, Burswood and Optus Stadium. At night the lighting continuously changes colour.’ Thank you so much for sharing this with us,
@BarryR!
