I would like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
I am grateful for everyone that makes up this hospital. We have achieved so much together this year and I know the same will be true for 2023. We are so lucky to have each one of you on staff and the commitment to our patients that you bring.
I am also thankful that we were able to begin meeting with each other earlier this year. Pathway to Unparalleled sessions, Hospital Week, Performance Excellence kickoff sessions, I CARE in Action anniversary celebration, the Employee Fair, and our upcoming holiday party — it is great to be in fellowship with one another after so long.
I hope this holiday is filled with a spirit of gratitude, delicious food and quality family time. A special thank you to those staff that are working on the holiday. We look forward to providing a sweet treat as a token of our appreciation.

HMSL Earns 18th Straight Leapfrog "A" Safety Grade
HMSL has recently been awarded its 18th consecutive Leapfrog "A" safety grade for fall 2022. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only rating solely focused on a hospital's ability to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries and infections. All Houston Methodist hospitals received an “A” grade this fall. This prestigious ranking is a testament to the care and commitment of all of you who work at HMSL. We appreciate the way you put patient safety first. Thank you for all that you do!
Major Magnet Milestone
With the announcement of Magnet designation at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital last week, Houston Methodist is now one of only a few systems in the country with every one of its acute care hospitals achieving Magnet status. HMSL first achieved Magnet designation in 2017 and again in 2022. Read more from Dr. Marc Boom.
Performance Excellence: Saving You Time at Work
Each day, nurses have many tasks associated with caring for their patients. That includes distributing medication. But recently, it was expressed that nurses were spending on average more than an hour of their time doing this one task each day. Click here to read how a Kaizen event team tackled this problem to cut that time. The images below shows how the Kaizen streamlined the nurses’ work to be more efficient. Thank you to the 4 West and Pharmacy team for their work on in this process improvement.

International Parade Fall 2022
Thank you to all who participated in the International Fashion Parade last week. It was a beautiful display of the rich cultures that make up our staff. We are proud to serve one of the most diverse counties in the nation. According to Fort Bend County Judge KP George, more than 120 languages are spoken in our county. We are proud to have a diverse staff that mirrors that.

Main 6 West Patient: "I was very impressed with the care given to me in my 4-day stay. The nurses were very caring, always listened to my concerns and took very, very good care of me. The entire team— doctors, nurses, transporters, techs, etc.—worked like clockwork. I am a retired nurse and have very high expectations. The Methodist staff met those expectations 100%. The doctors were very professional and took time to talk to me and answered my questions. Thank you Methodist Sugar Land for giving me an excellent care! Keep up the great service you do."
Childbirth Center Patient: "This delivery was 100% better than my first. Dr. Miller is an amazing OB/GYN and the anesthesiologist did his job quickly and accurately. Very pleased with everyone."
