School Spotlight: Atascadero High Sees Student Maturation in Both Academics and Career Planning through Utilization of Career Choices and Changes

Speaking with Academic Innovations staff earlier this year, David Holley, administrator at Atascadero High School, spoke on his observations throughout the year of student response and participation in their Get Focused course. 

"From the standpoint of their age, as they’re forming those ideas, it’s important to say, 'You know what, maybe this is something I can explore, and it’s connected to something more global.' They may also realize that if this particular opportunity doesn’t quite meet their financial goals, there could be other opportunities that align with their long-term aspirations."

Additionally, Atascadero has utilized the Career Choices and Changes curriculum to provide dual enrollment opportunities to give students a leg up on their postsecondary pursuits.
