SWEETWATER PAVILION CONSTRUCTION
The renovation project in the Sweetwater Pavilion enters its final phase this week. Starting this Tuesday, June 20, the main entrance to the Sweetwater Pavilion will be closed. It will remain blocked until Friday, June 30. There will be signs in the area directing patients and employees around the closure. The main alternate entrance will be the Breast Care Center. Patients and employees will use this entrance to get to: Imaging, Childbirth Center, Breast Care Center and MOB 2. Signs with directions to MOB 1 and Brazos will also be in place. We appreciate your patience as this renovation project wraps up. Please reach out to anyone on the Facilities team with any questions. Weekly updates will continue in this newsletter.

Deadline Update: Comfort and Safety Course for Nurse Leaders
The system patient experience team has extended the deadline for the Comfort and Safety Open Discussion Course for Nurse Leaders (i.e., charge nurses, nurse managers, nurse directors, ACNOs/CNOs). Juneteenth Celebration
All employees are welcome to celebrate Juneteenth with the Black Ties for Culture ERG. The celebration will be held Monday, June 19 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the HMRI Bookout Auditorium or you can join the Zoom stream here. The program will feature giveaways, snacks and more. 2023 Pride Celebrations
Celebrate Pride Month at Houston Methodist Sugar Land with the LGBTQ+Allies ERG on Thursday, June 22 at Noon in the Main Conference Room AD. Join us for a pride event where you can enjoy some refreshments, mingle with colleagues and partake in a live stream watch party featuring remarks by Dr. Marc Boom, President and CEO of Houston Methodist, and a live performance by singer/pianist Theron Early. Houston Methodist is proud to be a first time sponsor of the Houston Pride Parade! The 45th Annual Official Houston Pride Celebration featuring the Houston Pride Parade will take place on Saturday, June 24 at 7 p.m. in Downtown Houston on Smith and Milam. HMSL Summer Intern
HMSL is excited to welcome Maya Garcia who will be interning this summer in our Operations department. She is currently a student at Texas State University, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration. She has a strong drive to succeed, loves to run, is a sports enthusiast and is excited to be here at HMSL! Read more about Maya here. Maya joins Shelby Brooks, our DEI Summer Scholarship Intern. Star Wars at the Symphony Giveaway
Is the force with you? HMSL is giving away four (4) tickets to the Houston Symphony’s upcoming performance of Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert at the Hobby Center on Saturday, July 29. Relive the magic of this 1977 film as the first chapter of the original Star Wars trilogy projects on the big screen at The Hobby Center, with each note of John Williams’ famous score performed live by the Houston Symphony.
