When we read this lovely memory in our ‘Nostalgia Competition’ we just knew we had to feature it in our newsletter because it made us smile! A big thanks to member @SusieQ1 for sharing this with us! ‘The 8th of November 1965 was the day I, my sister, and my Mum and Dad (Gran came later), arrived in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. We were known as "Ten Pound Poms" by the Aussies. What an adventure!! I was 11 years old, and my sister was sixteen months younger. We just slipped right into the Aussie way of life (the dunny out the back was a shocker to us all, especially Mum). My favourite memory, from that particular time, was that our new chums at school didn't make us
feel “different”. We talked funny; school subjects were different to what we knew but our mates helped us out .........We were accepted!! 😊’ Well… We can only imagine what a shock the outdoor dunny must have been! But we are so glad you felt accepted! What a lovely memory to be able to look back on.

A haunted path
Members, a little warning before you read on, this one’s a little scary! Member @Suzanne rose posted this photo on our forum along with the caption ‘I took this picture on a visit to Port Arthur. It was on this path that while taking these pictures, I heard a child's voice, there was no one there except me and my husband.’ My goodness @Suzanne rose that must have been terrifying! I went to Port Arthur back in 2019, and while I was waiting to enter, my partner and I had lunch at the visitors centre. For some strange reason, my appetite
went away completely and I couldn’t eat the lunch I ordered. I hadn’t even gone onto the grounds yet. I spent the entire tour feeling very unsettled, uneasy, and quite sick. There is something very eerie about being there, but I also wouldn’t want to miss it. It’s quite the experience!
