Hello, dearest members! Happy Tuesday! I (Jarred) hope you all have a great day and week ahead. Regardless of how your week pans out, we’ll always be here to keep you company, so buckle up for yet another edition of our daily newsletters!
Now, I know why you’re here this morning, and it’s to get the answer to yesterday’s riddle. So, what was the riddle again?
I am the beginning of sorrow and the end of sickness. You cannot express happiness without me, yet I am in the midst of crosses. I am always in risk, yet never in danger. You may find me in the sun, but never out of darkness. What am I?
Well, how did you find it? Just the right amount of difficulty, I hope! The answer is the letter ‘s’! The way the riddle was written lent it a mystical edge, if you will, which I felt somehow took away from what should have been a straightforward puzzle. Unsurprisingly, many of you sharp and quick-witted riddle masters found this one a piece of cake! As always, if you got the answer correct, you’ll find the shout-out in the forum post. ‘Til the next riddle, members!
Now, let’s move on and find out what’s happening across the world and around Australia today!

Today’s blast from the past is a classic experience of growing up Aussie: going out for a picnic! Unfortunately, this photograph coming from the State Library of Queensland is undated, but everything about the photograph screams ‘nostalgia’, from the car, to the attire, and (of course!) the colour. Do you remember going out with your family to a park or the beach, choosing a nice spot to lay your stuff down, and enjoying a leisurely snack or two (with tea!) and the fresh air? Or maybe your family has a tradition you’d like to share with everyone else? Tell us in the forum here! And, of course, if you have other memories you’d like to share with us, post them here on our Nostalgia/Yesterday’s Australia forum!
