Thursday Edition
Good morning, members and happy Thursday! What’s on the agenda for today? Maybe trying out a new recipe or playing a few of our games? Whatever you end up doing, we hope you have a great day! As for us, we’ve got a few things lined up that we think you’ll enjoy, so settle in and let’s get started, shall we?
First things first, it’s time to give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. For those of you who don’t remember, the riddle goes:
If you throw me out the window, I’ll leave a grieving wife. Bring me back, but through the door, you’ll see someone giving life. What am I?
This was a tough one, but a fair few of you figured out that the answer was the letter 'n'! You see, if you take the letter ’n’ out of the word window, you get ‘widow’. Bring it back to the word door, and you get ‘donor'. Clever, eh? If you got this one correct, stick around, and you’ll find a shoutout waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next up on the agenda, folks, is our Fascinating Fact for the week!
Did you know that the longest recorded case of hiccups lasted for 68 years? That’s right, from 1922 to 1990, Charles Osborne from Iowa hiccupped around 430 million times! The hiccups started while he was attempting to weigh a hog before slaughtering it. The hiccups were so constant that they even stopped him from speaking properly. Amazingly, the hiccups didn’t stop him from leading a relatively normal life; he even managed to get married and have children. How’s that for a fascinating fact and a patient wife?

Remember being woken up every morning by the sound of horses and glass bottles clinking as the milky delivered fresh milk to your door? Every bottle had a layer of cream on top, which was a treat for the kids. Who here used to collect the coloured alfoil lids from milk bottles and turn them into Christmas decorations?
