We started in January with our Water for All program, which is a free water plan for our communities in Venezuela utilizing a well from our Apuna farm. We use this water resource to deliver clean water using our very first water transportation vehicle acquired thanks to a generous donor. For every water truck we sale at $35, we then give free water to schools, health centers, and nursing homes experiencing extreme poverty. So far we have distributed free water to 10 schools, 5 healthcare centers and 2 institutions serving over 4,000 people. Thanks to our alliances with ACCESO, Giustra Foundation, World Central Kitchen, CORE and Aid Live Foundation we have reached over 21,000 people this first half of the year. We have provided over 2,000 nutritional drinks for children in 20 communities. We have also provided more than 185,000 pounds of fresh nutrient rich vegetables, fruit and grains reaching 17 communities, 53 schools, 24 institutions and NGOs. That's 309,000 meals served this year and we will distribute more than 286,000 pounds of vegetables, fruit and grains to more than 20,000 people by the end of 2022. These alliances that began in 2019 have delivered almost half a million pounds of vegetables, fruit and grain reaching 148 communities, 62 schools, 58 institutions and NGOs. That’s over 2,200,000 meals serving over 45,000 people. Our newly created Biointensive Cultivation of Agroecology program at Apuna and Mirabello farms will provide sustainability for the foreseeable future. We are improving 19 Acres of cultivation with short cycle crops. The rest of 2022 we will continue maintaining anthropometric sessions monitoring the growth of the children in the schools we help support. Last year we provided 114,000 bars of soap and thousands of PPE masks, face shields, biosafety suits, oximeters, safety lenses and thousands of gallons of hand sanitizer protecting more than 55,000 people as a part of our Covid-19 Response program. The first half of 2022, we provided medicine and supplies to over 38,000 people.
We have held 7 educational and health training workshops for our educators. We have also continued the Spirituality for Kids program reaching 96 students and our music and art programs have served 85 students. Through our educational program we have provided 157 books of “The Little Prince'' written in Wayuunaiki to 24 schools and 2 educational institutions. We have continued general maintenance of the infrastructure of the Tepichi Talashi school which educates over 400 children. The Wayuu Taya Foundation grows more and more each day. Our uninterrupted work for over 20 years has become an important and vital blueprint for humanitarian work. All of this would not be possible without our partnerships with CORE, ACCESO, Giustra Foundation, World Central Kitchen, Direct Relief, Global Giving, Center for Disaster and Philanthropy, Clinton Foundation, Clean the World, FEDEX, Warner Bros Discovery , and many other wonderful organizations. Thanks to your contribution, our allies, and a team of passionate individuals focused on helping those in need, we will continue to bring hope for a bright promising future to everyone in need.
