5 Valuable Money Tips for Post-Secondary Planning
We know that post-secondary education and training is important. Just look at the data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics about how earnings and employment rates vary based on education. Sadly, there is so much in the media about the high cost of college that students may have a hard time seeing post-secondary education as a viable option.
All the more reason to highlight gems like this short blog post from an intern for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid outlining 5 money tips for students, including a few thoughts on the value of community colleges.

Students Discover Value in Education at River City High School
River City High School was awarded a Career Choices Medal for the sixth year in a row in 2022 for their outstanding life- and career-planning program
“Instead of hearing this question all the time: ‘Why do I have to take math? I hate math, or I hate English, or whatever,’” said Marlaina Schroeder Spivey, a teacher at River City High School. “Instead of that, students are walking into the counseling office and advocating for themselves. That was the biggest change.”
