Stacy Leigh, State of Disrepair, 2025, acrylic on canvas, 48 x 40 inches Stacy Leigh October 9 through November 8, 2025 Harper’s Chelsea 534 The thing about living life is that there is always something, some loose thread. Even when everything feels nearly perfect, there is almost always something daunting, looming, hanging just at the periphery. The subtleties in these paintings, or in the case of the show’s title work State of Disrepair, the glaring truth, reveal the tiny cracks in life’s façade. That is the intention of this show: a nod to the perspective that it all can come wildly undone. Of course, this is not limited to negative experiences. Instead, it suggests that there are always facets of life beyond our control. Some threaten to derail our desired trajectory, while others ripple outward with external consequences. That we as humans manage to hold things together and keep the veneer of control intact is nothing short of remarkable. This body of work is meant as a quiet homage to that resilience. —Stacy Leigh
