Dear Duquesne University students and colleagues,

Last week, I sent a message to the campus community announcing updates to University parking policies for the upcoming fall semester. Over the past few days, I listened carefully to concerns shared with me by students across campus about how the new parking policies would impact their experience.

In light of the feedback we’ve received, we will not be implementing updates to parking policies at this time. For the 2026-2027 academic year, parking permits will continue to give access as they have previously.

The proposed policy changes were created with the goal of addressing some of the difficulties that our community has experienced in finding available parking. Based on what we have heard, we want to spend more time working with campus to find additional ways to resolve our parking challenges. 

In the coming weeks, my leadership team and I will take time to reevaluate how best to address parking in the near term in a way that is fair for all members of the Duquesne community. We also will continue our work toward long-term solutions to increase overall parking capacity at Duquesne. We anticipate sharing more news about that soon. 

I am deeply grateful to everyone who shared their concerns with me. As I said on my first day as president, campus feedback is fundamental to how I lead. I hope you will continue to share your honest thoughts and concerns with me throughout my presidency.
