RSA CommuniquéPlus

28 February 2023

Dear ,

Kia Ora …I write this as I am on route to New Zealand for our NZ Branch Symposium later this week in Wellington. We are looking forward to connecting with our kiwi members in person again. I am also thinking about our colleagues who have been impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can do to support you during this hard time.

March Madness is well and truly on us with a busy calendar. Join us for the branch symposiums in New Zealand, South Australia / Northern Territory and Western Australia. We also have a range of Special Interest Group meetings to connect you with colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand.

Thank you to all who submitted an abstract for the 2023 Conference! We have had our best response to date for submissions. Authors will be notified next week. Keep an eye out for the preliminary program, launching very soon. Check out our learning labs and provocative panels that feature for the first time at the 2023 Conference.

Finally, I encourage you to get involved with ANZDATA as they are looking for a General Member - Dialysis Nurse or Nurse Practitioner. See the Key Stakeholder and Partner section of the newsletter below.

Kind regards,

Savio D’sa
CEO
Renal Society of Australasia

Keynote: Professor Kevin Whelan

The gastrointestinal microbiome is a complex ecosystem and our understanding of its role is rapidly expanding. Although new advances are exciting, they present challenges to health professionals who are faced with an ever-increasing number of research studies to read and interpret.

This presentation will provide clinical trial evidence and clear, take-home messages regarding the use of probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics to manage symptoms in clinical practice in kidney disease.
