Harper’s is delighted to announce plans for a new gallery in Bangkok, Thailand, opening in Spring 2026.

The gallery will occupy a striking glass-fronted space at street level in the lobby of Siam Patumwan House, the new corporate headquarters of Siam Motors Group. The building is being developed as a cultural destination for the city, with exceptional artworks installed throughout its public areas and an important collection of contemporary art already on view at SOMA, the acclaimed new restaurant adjacent to the gallery.

Located in the Patumwan district of central Bangkok, known for its vibrant cultural and culinary scene, the 2500-square-foot gallery will be designed by studioMDA, the firm behind Harper’s flagship location and bookshop in Chelsea. The space faces both the street and the building’s courtyard, with high ceilings, abundant natural light, expansive walls for our artists, and a Thai-inspired viewing room for visiting and local collectors.

Siam Patumwan House is easily accessible by car or Bangkok’s excellent Skytrain system (BTS). Both the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and the legendary Jim Thompson House are a short walk away, while the new Bangkok Kunsthalle is a 10–15 minute drive from the gallery.

In conjunction with our first international expansion, the gallery is pleased to announce several new initiatives focused on Thailand and the region, including an artist residency launching in the third quarter of 2026, an advisory service tailored specifically to Southeast Asian collectors, and a hospitality program designed to welcome international collectors and art enthusiasts to Thailand.

People have asked, why Thailand? My answer: have you been recently? Three years ago, after Art SG in Singapore, I was invited to visit Bangkok by a group of Thai art collectors. That first trip led to our popup exhibition, Kismet, in January 2024 at One Wall Foundation in the original Siam Motors building.

Beyond a burgeoning art scene, Bangkok is one of the world’s great destinations for food, wellness, history, and culture—seamlessly merging luxury and authenticity. This bounty is surpassed only by the unparalleled hospitality of its residents.

My personal relationship with the core group of collectors who have hosted me on several trips is deeply meaningful. As a young writer in the early 90s, I traveled extensively in the region. While I always yearned to return, I could never have imagined the incredible friendships I would develop with my Thai collaborators. Together we are excited to create a new vision of the art world in Bangkok.
