As I’m sure you’re aware by now, the Safe Transition Industry Support Fund comprises three programs – two in support of tourism operators and another for travel agents, which will all be rolled out simultaneously. We will have a dedicated team here at Tourism WA, to help set up these programs. We're hoping to have guidelines and application forms live on our corporate website later next week, so please keep an eye out for those. It was wonderful to see so many people turn up for our industry update last week. It was a fantastic night and I’ve been so pleased to receive such positive feedback from those who took part, both in person and online. There was a lot of optimism in the room about the future of tourism in our state. Meanwhile, we’re busily gearing up for our tourism trade mission to Sydney in May for the Australian Tourism Exchange, and to the UK and Europe in June for an Adventure Awaits Roadshow, and have numerous Tourism WA-sponsored events to look forward to, including Sculpture by the Sea, Shore Leave and the hugely popular Margaret River Pro. Rest assured, we’re continuing work behind the scenes to reconnect WA to the rest of the world, so we’ll be ready to hit go on our marketing campaigns when the border reopening date is announced. WHAT'S NEW$38 million tourism support applications open soonApplications for funding through a $38 million tourism industry support package will start to open in the coming week. Businesses will be able to apply for support through one of three programs – the $15 million Tourism Deposit Refund Program, the $20 million Tourism Support Program, or the $3 million Travel Agent Support Fund. The package of funding programs aims to support businesses impacted by the decision to delay the opening of the border. More information is available on our corporate website and program guidelines will likely be available from early next week. Reconnect WA tourism industry updateMore than 300 people attended last week’s tourism industry update both in person and online. The event provided attendees with an update on our tourism strategy, the recently announced support package, our marketing activity and our new global brand. To help you with your own marketing plans, you can find a snapshot on our corporate website that summaries our key target markets, immediate activity and our preferred distribution partners in each of our markets. Adventure Awaits Roadshow in UK and EuropeTourism WA is organising an in-person roadshow in June, to reconnect outbound trade partners and agents from the United Kingdom and Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Italy) with key WA tourism operators. This roadshow will enable WA operators to reconnect with the UK and European trade, update and exchange information, and strengthen relationships with key-decision makers, and provide an opportunity to train UK and European agents.
