Welcome to Everyone’s Business: Economic Development in Grayslake.

Economic development benefits the entire community. Each quarter, the Village of Grayslake Economic Development Commission (EDC) plans to communicate important business developments in Grayslake, including:

Big Wins
We will share news and happenings, including major business expansions, new large business projects and information on new residential developments in the local market.

By the Numbers
When it comes to attracting business, and setting businesses up for success, Grayslake stacks up well by the numbers. In this newsletter, we will share helpful business data to help Grayslake businesses grow, including information about current business trends, sector‐specific growth in the area, and demographic/market information.

Creating Value
Businesses are valuable to everyone in the community. They add jobs, create economic activity, bring products/services, and contribute to the tax base.  We will share news, information and perspective on how and why working together on business creates a stronger community.

Opportunities Ahead
Our community is connected and resources are available to grow business. In each newsletter, we will connect the dots with upcoming job fairs, EDC business assistance programs, Chamber of Commerce services and State of Illinois program information.

FEATURED BUSINESS

Medline Locates in Grayslake

After winning a multi‐state recruitment competition, Medline Industries chose to locate in Grayslake vs. competing sites in Wisconsin, Indiana, and another site in Lake County.

Before Medline chose the Grayslake site the Village, working with Lake County Partners, was able to come to agreement with Fremont School District 79 and Mundelein High School District 120 on a tax abatement program for Medline if the business chose Grayslake. The project is now complete along Peterson Road in the new Cornerstone business park.

Medline’s decision to locate their new 1.4 million square foot logistics center in Grayslake will bring 500 full-time jobs to the area and will bring thousands of dollars annually to local area taxing districts. It also supported the commencement of development of more shovel-ready business sites in the Cornerstone business park. All of this results from cooperation between different taxing districts.
