Hurricane Season is Here, Know Your Zone
The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is officially underway. Pinellas County has resources to help you prepare — and this year, disaster preparedness supplies are tax-free in Florida. Take steps now before a storm forms.
5 steps to get ready now:
- Know your evacuation zone at pinellascounty.org/emergency
- Build a 3-day kit: water (1 gal/person/day), non-perishable food, medications, flashlight, batteries
- Make a family communication plan — especially for seniors and those with disabilities
- Stock up early — water and gas sell out fast when storms approach
- Sign up for Pinellas County emergency alerts at Alert Pinellas.

200 seniors served at storm prep event
What a day at the Lealman Exchange! Thanks to the generosity of Duke Energy, Neighborly Senior Care Network, and the Florida Council on Aging, Lealman Exchange was selected to host a senior-focused shelf-stable meal giveaway and resource event — and our community showed up. 200 seniors were served today, connecting neighbors with food and vital resources right here in Lealman.
Mud, sweat, and tears of joy at LANFC
For Leadership St. Pete, Community Project Day is where the magic happens. The Class of 2026 and its Planning Committee worked for months in dedicated teams, from fundraising to construction and design, all driving toward one shared goal: a better, more vibrant outdoor space for Lealman and Asian Neighborhood Family Center (LANFC).
The Leadership St. Pete Class of 2026 unanimously selected LANFC for their class project. They transformed LANFC's grounds, assembling furniture and shades, painting, building a new deck, landscaping, adding sports equipment, and more. All of it was done through pure teamwork, grit, and a lot of sweat in the Florida heat.
The result will benefit families today and for generations to come.
