SWAN ALCOA LANDCARE PROGRAMCongratulations to the 2024 SALP Grant Recipients!On Thursday 11 February, 2024, the SALP program announced the recipients of the 2024 round of funding, providing over $280,000 to 21 community groups across the Perth region, for projects improving bushland and waterways. View the full list of SALP Grant Recipients here. Grant Applications for 2025 are now open, Community groups and organisations are invited to apply. CELEBRATING PERTH NRM WOMEN IN STEMWomen's STEM JumpStart ProgramOn Friday 16 February, Perth NRM Staff members Bonnie Jupp, Tibby Tuckett, Dr. Laura Skates, Hannah Gulliver, Vanessa McGuiness, Jennifer Harrison, and Perth NRM Board DIrector Glenice Batchelor attended the Value Creators final Women’s STEM Jumpstart Connect Forum with Alumni and Mentors. The Federally funded program from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet Office for Women and a partnership with RRR Network included programs in Albany, Bunbury, Northam, Peel, Karratha, Kununurra, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton and Perth, targeting Rural women in STEM roles for career development. MAKING CHANGE WITH YOUR CONTAINERSPlease donate your eligible containers in our nameDid you know Perth NRM are registered with Containers for Change? Supporters can quote our scheme ID (Perth NRM Member number: C10428043) when dropping eligible containers to a refund point, and the 10c per item will be donated to Perth NRM. Eligible containers include most glass, plastic, aluminium, steel and paper based cartons between 150ml to 3L. We’ve been so lucky to have supporters that stretch as far north as Kununurra in Western Australia. With the funds donated, we’ve been able to extend our support to 'Friends of', Landcare and Coastcare groups in our region. EVENTSGardening for Wildlife - Citizen Science Project CelebrationJoin us for a celebration of citizen science and wildlife conservation! Perth NRM and the University of Western Australia invite you to join us in Perth, Bunbury and Albany during March to celebrate and discover the final outcomes of the ‘Turning Gardeners into Conservationists’ project. Joondalup Festival - Coastal Discovery WalksMeet at the panda and let’s meander! Embark on a Sunday arvo stroll along the shoreline with Perth NRM to find out more about the Joondalup region’s natural coastal habitat and how we can all help to ensure its future for the next generations. After meeting at the Electric Kingdom rolling panda installation at Hillarys Boat Harbour, you’ll walk and talk with leading industry professionals covering topics ranging from sand dunes and saltbush, bushland and birds, and anything else found in the vast coastal ecosystem. Dates: This is a FREE event - however registrations are required. WA Tree Festival - Noongar Cultural Walk on the CoastLearn about Noongar culture, history and natural beauty of our coastline with Wadjuk Traditional Owner, Olman Walley. You will be guided through the stunning sights of Whitfords Nodes and our pristine coastline to learn about significant sites and trees in the area.
