Dear colleagues and friends, the recent AEC Congress was the 48th AEC Annual Congress, but the first to be held as a hybrid congress. It was a challenge, and we are proud of the strong positive feedback we received. We are now looking ahead to another challenging Corona winter, as well as to continuing the AEC success story. Just a week after the AEC Congress and two weeks before the end of the 'SMS' project term, we have been informed that our Creative Europe Network application for the years 2022 to 2024 has been approved! Stefan Gies The 48th AEC Annual Congress and General Assembly 2021 took place at the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp, Belgium (RCA) and online on 3-6 November 2021 under the title “Building Bridges: Artist as Makers in Society” A session at the recent AEC Congress addressed the topic of ‘Advocacy at European Level’, raising awareness on the importance of the advocacy for AEC’s daily work and how it is helpful for its membership. The members of the AEC Student Working group founded the European Performing Arts Students’ Association “EPASA”. Applications for membership are open! On 29 November 2021 MusiQuE presented its second webinar: ‘Involving students in quality assurance (QA)’. The event focused on portraying different views on student involvement in QA in higher education and higher music education institutions. Led by the University of Southeastern Norway, the Erasmus+ project aims at promoting cooperation between the partners through the development of virtual and blended mobility in traditional music undergraduate programmes. Leadership news from AEC member institutions » Ingeborg Walinga has taken her position as the new dean of the Prince Claus Conservatoire and leading dean of the Research Centre Art & Society as at 1 November. She is following up in this capacity AEC's long standing Council member and Secretary General Harrie van den Elsen.» Béatrice Zawodnik will take over the position as director of the Haute Ecole de Musique Geneva from 1 January 2022 on, succeeding Philippe Dinkel.
