Welcome to your moment to ROAR!
Issue # 23

Dear Friend,

Happy November and Happy Thanksgiving!

What an amazing day we had at the ROAR Summit at the Hearst Tower in New York City earlier this month.

Over 200 people joined us (some of you too) for panels, ROAR conversations, videos and a surprise visit from the Golden Bachelor who was interviewed by Gayle King!

We had talks on Trends in Longevity Medicine, Lifelong Learning and BrainHealth, Owning Your Own Financial Well-Being, Entertainment in the New Longevity and a lot more.

We had over 25 guest speakers including Laura Carstensen, Founder of the Stanford Center on Longevity, Barbara Reinhard, Chief Investment Officer of VOYA Financial, Dr. Mark Lachs from Weill Cornell Medicine, Amy Baer, President of Landline Pictures and John Dick from Civic Science. The audience was inspired and informed on all things New Longevity.

At ROAR forward, we have had a great first year with our ROAR Report and Bulletins, thought leadership content, webinars and our ROAR MasterMind membership community. You can check it out on ROARforward.com and reach out if you are interested in learning more.

Last month, we asked you what celebrities you think represent the new role models for those over 50. Your answers were wide-ranging from George Clooney and Spike Lee to Helen Mirren, Shonda Rhimes and Jane Goodall. They all fit the ROAR sensibility.

Are you ready to answer our next question?

"What do you think are the most important qualities to reinvent for the second half of life?"

ANSWER HERE

This month we are publishing some stories that will inspire you. When I met Anh Vu Sawyer, who went back to school as a lifelong learner at 66 to get an MBA at M.I.T., I had to share her story with you (especially since she then went on to Harvard to develop her social impact idea).

When I spoke at the Thriv event last month, I met Sarabjit and Davinder, an entrepreneurial couple who are starting new businesses in their 60s. Norman Miller, a former colleague, did a complete reinvention in his 60s too. His story will make you realize that you can go in a completely new direction for your reinvention.

If you want to explore your creative side, check out the video of Patricia Forehand. From elementary school teacher to professional stand-up comic, she is off in a new direction of fulfillment and creativity.

To help you find your reinvention, we will be hosting a session on "Life Layering" in early 2024. Stay tuned for more details in the December newsletter and for an email that will come to you with more specifics.

This Thanksgiving season, I'm heading out to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where we have a family home and where the sunny blue skies allow me to rejuvenate. We'll do some hiking, trail runs, have a margarita with friends and share what we are grateful for in our lives.

Here's to your moments of gratitude and a reminder that in the second half of life you can accomplish anything that you desire. What's your favorite future look like and what steps have you taken to achieve it?

Michael
