If you have any ideas or suggestions for content, please email s.cameron@projectindependence.com.au10th Birthday CelebrationOn Thursday 29th September, we celebrated 10 years of Project Independence with a fundraiser dinner at Pialligo Estate. We had 100 people attend, including some of our residents. They had a wonderful evening, and it was great to have representatives from both Latham and Harrison there. Some photos are below. Birthday Fun!Did You Know?Project Independence has created living spaces for 20 Canberra residents, with another 10 places to be ready for the end of this year. Altogether, 25 residents have entered PI and 2 have since moved on to their next stage of independent living/accommodation. PI PhillipExcitement is beginning to mount with the new PI Phillip property due to open in early 2023. With many people on the Waitlist, residency applications are already being taken and successful applicants will be notified early December. We are looking forward to the expansion of the PI Canberra community. New Harrison ResidentsPI are pleased to announce that two new residents have joined PI Harrison in the last month. Join us in sending a warm welcome to Jackson Barnwell (pictured centre) and Lauren Bell. Residents' GuideThe PI Residents' Guide is being updated and will be available in the original format and also in an easy-to-read version. These will be sent out before the end of the year. Revamped WebsiteWe are eagerly awaiting the launch of the new PI website in late 2022. It will include a section for current residents and their family/carers. Forms will be readily accessed and a What’s Happening section will keep residents and family/carers up to date with the latest news. Farewell SarahProject Independence is farewelling our Administrative Officer Sarah Blake who is leaving us to take up an exciting new role within the disability sector. Sarah has been involved in many important projects including the PI Pathways Program. Good luck in the future Sarah - you will be missed!
