MARINE BUSINESS NEWS

NEWS UPDATE

04 July 2025

Publishers note

For those of us on the East Coast, this past week brought dire warnings of a "bomb cyclone" and severe conditions along the NSW coastline. While some of us only saw moderate rain and gusty winds, others have faced far more serious impacts. NSW Maritime Executive Director Mark Hutchings has rightly urged, "Boaters to stay off the water as dangerous conditions continue to batter coast." Please stay safe and heed official advice before heading out.

In this edition, we acknowledge a significant transition in the marine sector. Greg Maxwell—a respected figure with more than 50 years in marine engineering and over 15 years at the helm of Adit Marine—has announced his decision to list the business for sale. We extend our sincere best wishes to Greg as he looks toward new horizons. His story is featured in this issue and on our website.

Also this week, we step briefly outside the marine sphere to share a worthy initiative. “It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation” is taking to the road with a campaign promoting prostate cancer awareness and early testing in rural and regional Australia. Given the demographic of our readership and the personal stories many of us carry, we felt compelled to help amplify this important message.

As always, thank you for staying connected with Marine Business News.

I do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
