This education series mimics a fireside chat and offers you a chance to get to know, or get reacquainted with, various service lines and departments on campus and system wide that are available as resources in the patient care journey. Watch Party: Linked By LoveThe Black Ties for Culture ERG is hosting the premier of "Linked in Love," a 6-episode series on kidney disease, kidney failure, transplant and living donations. This "edutainment" series follows a family's experience with kidney failure that addresses cultural barriers and medical disparities impacting the African-American/Black community. HMSL's watch party is Friday, April 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Main BC. Click here for more information. HealthyDirections+ FairThe HealthyDirections+ program and HR Hub staff are visiting campuses across the system. There have been changes to the program that focus on the entire person like financial, mental and emotional health. They will host the HealthyDirections+ Fair in Brazos Conference Center Tuesday, April 18 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Stop by with your questions and learn new things that the program offers. ![]() This month we are celebrating Occupational Therapy Month. This talented group enables people of all ages to participate in daily living or live better with injury, illness or disability. Occupational therapy helps people function at the highest possible level and maintain or rebuild their independence. Ultimately they help people participate in everyday activities that they need to do or that simply make life worth living. It commemorates the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt and their transition from slavery to freedom. During the festival, many Jewish families get together to share evening meals called Seders. April is Autism Acceptance and Deaf History Month. These designations help bring awareness to the challenges that individuals face in living with these diagnoses – but also the accomplishments these individuals have made in spite of them. ![]() ![]() The full DEI Corner is available each week in the helpful links section at the top of the newsletter. When I came for the first visit, it was apparent he reviewed my medical history in the referral from my PCP. He was able to provide a treatment that helped immediately relieve some of the pain I was in when I came in. He is awesome." Main 5 East Patient: "As sick as I was, my stay in the hospital was worth it. Everyone made me feel great. I knew everything would be taken care of." Endoscopy Patient: "I have been in hospitals all over the world but this is the first time that I was treated like a king. The service I received is the best that I have ever had.
