Issue 800 Thursday, April 11, 2024
This week, the focus is very much on waves — from the mammoth swell in Margaret River, to the upcoming Maximum Occupancy West Coast conference which will include a deep dive into the WA Visitor Economy Strategy 2033 (WAVES 2033). In our spectacular Margaret River Region, the world’s surfing elite have begun a fierce ocean battle at Main Break as the 2024 Margaret River Pro gets underway in its tenth year as a prestigious World Championship Tour event. A proven visitor drawcard, the 2023 Pro attracted
more than 3,500 visitors to the region and injected more than $8 million into the economy. The World Surf League event is a key opportunity to inspire viewers to start planning their adventure to ‘WA the Dream State’ through showcasing the state via global media coverage, online broadcast, and through the social media profiles of celebrity surfers. Also on the WAVES front, I am delighted to share I will be joining the ‘What’s on the Horizon WA’ panel at the inaugural Maximum Occupancy West Coast conference in Perth next week. I will be joining AHA CEO Bradley Woods and Business Events Perth CEO Gareth Martin for the panel discussion and look forward to exploring what the future holds for WA's tourism and accommodation industry, and touching on our work which aims to grow the WA visitor economy as a whole, through implementing the WAVES 2033 vision. To attend the conference, please see registration details below.
