Tuesday Edition
Good morning ladies and gents, how are you all doing this morning? We hope you had a lovely ANZAC Day yesterday and enjoyed the Newsletter Dawn Service because we so enjoyed putting it together for you. If there’s anything you didn’t like, or if you have any feedback on how we can improve for next year, don’t be afraid to let us know in the forum or send us an email here!
Now, we have plenty in store for you today, including the first riddle of the week! A big thank you to member Doug S. who sent this riddle to us. It’s a tough one, but we think you’re going to like it…
There is a word that has two opposite meanings. It can refer to a place where things are kept, but it also means to throw things away. What is it?
What do you think? We could not crack this one for the life of us, so we were lucky Doug sent us the answer! If you think you know the answer, post it in our forum here, and if you get it correct, we will give you a shout out in tomorrow’s newsletter. Sounds like a plan eh?
Now, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?
-
A driver has raised eyebrows after welding a Woolies trolley to his car. Now this is something you don’t see everyday!
-
Do you have any idea what this $1 gadget does? One South Australian woman found it in a second-hand shop and wants to know what it does.
-
Arnott’s is being slammed online for their famous Kingstons biscuits being shrunk down to the size of a 50 cent piece.
-
Fancy making some delicious custard or chocolate cannoli with *checks notes* cannelloni pasta tubes? Well, this Mum can show you how.
-
Speaking of making things, one foodie has shared a simple, money-saving ‘milk hack’ for those of you who prefer dairy-free milk.
-
Make your dollar go further with this guide to unlocking secret savings when shopping online.
-
One Woman has completely transformed her bathroom with a budget of $15 and it’s seriously impressive.
-
My oh my members, this story made our jaws drop. One ‘fun aunt’ has been cut off from her family after taking her niece to get a certain body part
pierced.
-
Fancy a mayonnaise chocolate mudcake? No? Well, professional bakers are saying it’s the ‘secret’ to a rich and moist cake…
-
If you love Mexican burritos as much as we do, then you’re going to love this low calorie recipe.
-
And finally, would you fancy your closest Woolies and Kmart being 9 hours away? This Mum explains how she has to drive 9 hours to her fortnightly grocery shop…
There’s quite a bit going on today, isn’t there? My goodness we are still processing the story about the car with the welded trolley handle, here’s hoping we see it driving around one day. Anyway, enough about car trolleys, we recommend you check out today’s trivia answer, because if you actually know the answer to this one, we will seriously be impressed. The whole office was stumped on this one for a good 10 minutes. Also be sure to check out today’s OzWord. We are just loving trying to crack these 5 letter words every
day, and we hope you are too!
Oh! And don't forget we have just launched another competition: Who Has The Best Joke? The member who has the best joke (in our humble opinion, of course) will win a $100 voucher to Coles, Woolies, Aldi or IGA! All you have to do post your best joke here.
Most importantly, stay safe and happy reading!
- Jonathan, Vella, Sean, James & Maddie.

Gosh we didn’t need much to keep ourselves entertained back in the day, did we? All we needed was something as small as an old sheet and an imagination. We remember playing for hours in the backyard making “tents'' and playing “camping”. We even remember setting up the sticks and pretending it was a fire! It’s a shame you don’t see as many kids getting creative with their play these days.

Three blonde police constables were being interviewed by a Detective Inspector for suitability for promotion to Sergeant.
The Inspector asked the officer on his left to look at a picture of the face of a man displayed on a screen on the wall; and advise that if the man was in a crowd of people would she recognise him...

The term ‘a bloat of hippopotamuses’, coined in 1939, comes from their large, indeed bloated bellies; a male hippo weighs around 3,600kgs and is covered in subcutaneous fat that helps him float. Their stomachs are typically bloated from a diet almost exclusively of grass which they ingest and store for up to three weeks. A typical ‘bloat’ would consist of one male hippo amongst 10-20 females.
