ILCSC, Advocacy Webinar, KRAS Facebook Live Event, and more! Final Days to Register for ILCSCYou won’t want to miss the International Lung Cancer Survivorship Conference (ILCSC) beginning Friday, July 15 at 10:30 AM ET with our keynote speaker David Carbone, MD, PhD. Dr. Carbone, Director of the James Thoracic Oncology Center at Ohio State University and a cancer survivor, is one of many medical experts speaking during the conference. Be sure not to miss the “Ask the Experts” sessions as well as special breakouts with medical providers to answer your questions. ILCSC was created to give you a better understanding of lung cancer and how to live better with the disease. Sessions on Friday and Saturday share information and resources related to targeted treatments, immunotherapy, participating in research studies, and much more. ![]() Report: The Global State of Lung Cancer Drug DevelopmentLUNGevity’s Dr. Upal Basu Roy and Dr. Amy Moore published a study on the global lung cancer therapy landscape in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology. The report found that new treatment approaches are being developed for both non-small cell and small cell lung cancer, including new classes of drugs. This means that lung cancer treatment will become increasingly biomarker driven, even for immunotherapy regimens. Furthermore, as more targeted therapies and immunotherapies are developed for early-stage lung cancer, there will be an increased need for biomarker testing to be done at earlier stages of the disease – something we’re focusing on as an organization. ![]() Summertime Hydration and Lung CancerAs high-heat temperatures continue to affect many of us this summer, it’s time to focus on the importance of staying hydrated for lung cancer patients. Many cancer treatments have side effects such as vomiting or diarrhea, which can increase the risk of dehydration, and as a result make other treatment side effects like nausea, dry mouth, and constipation worse. Visit the LUNGevity website for helpful information on how to hydrate during lung cancer treatment, lung cancer tips for summer, and dealing with taste changes during treatment. ![]() Raise Your Voice: Speaking Up About Lung CancerOn August 11, LUNGevity Care Navigator Angela James is hosting a Facebook Live conversation focused on self-advocacy for patients and caregivers. She’s joined by members of the lung cancer community as well as a licensed Lung Cancer Nurse Navigator who will give tips about using self-advocacy to improve your treatment and care. ![]() |
