Western Australia has secured yet another major sporting fixture with the announcement that our national men’s football team, the Subway Socceroos, will go head-to-head with Palestine’s national men’s team on June 11. This blockbuster match is the final Round Two fixture for the Subway Socceroos in their FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification journey, and will be their first match in Perth since 2016. The announcement comes less than a week after it was confirmed that WA will host a drawcard match between leading Italian football teams AC Milan and AS Roma at Optus Stadium this May, in what is shaping up to be yet another year of exciting international
football events in Perth. Perth will also proudly host the Virtuoso Forum Australia & New Zealand 2025, following Tourism WA's successful bid to bring the esteemed regional conference to Western Australia. The premium, two-day tourism event is set to welcome approximately 200 Travel Agency Owners, Managers, and Preferred Partners from Virtuoso’s network to Perth with attendees to participate in a series of familiarisation tours highlighting our state’s luxury and sustainable tourism offerings and premium accommodation, culinary delights, and unique attractions. Virtuoso is the premier global network of agencies specialising in luxury and
experiential travel, boasting over 20,000 advisors who tailor bespoke trips for clients. Virtuoso's target clientele also aligns strongly with Tourism WA's strategy to attract high-yield travellers to our state. We look forward to presenting ‘WA the Dream State’ to this targeted market segment, and to engaging with industry ahead of preparations kicking off for this major event on the WA tourism calendar.
