Thank you! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kaizen Success - EVS Equipment RoomsHMSL is celebrating a successful Kaizen 5S event - the reorganization of the housekeeping department in the Main Tower. A 5S event is a defined approach for identifying excess and organizing the workplace - a place for everything and everything in its place. The before and after pictures of the EVS main equipment room and three storage closets really showcase the power of teamwork and planning. From cluttered and chaotic to organized and functional, the new spaces are amazing. All equipment and supplies are now labeled - and everything has a designated area which is clearly marked. Kudos to everyone involved. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Employees who participate will receive 1,000 HealthyDirections+ points toward their DIY Health Tracks. The walk is Saturday, May 20 at Sam Houston Park. March of Dimes Fundraising![]() Our March of Dimes (MOD) fundraising campaign continues this week. Raffle tickets for the basket drawings are still on sale. Ticket purchases can be made online or in person via credit card, Venmo, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay and PayPal. The drawing is at 1 p.m. on May 26. Click here to buy your tickets. Evidence-Based Practice and Quality Improvement WorkshopThe Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Council is hosting their annual workshop on June 9. This is a great opportunity for those who want to develop an EBP or Quality Improvement project and get hands-on training. Nurses who attend will get CMEs. The workshop is from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Brazos Pavilion in conference rooms A & D. Click here for registration information. ![]() Neuroscience Nurses Week is May 14-20. Neuroscience nurses and NPs can be found throughout the organization, including the ED, ICU, 5 West, Neuro IR lab and outpatient clinics. They care for patients experiencing neurological conditions, such as stroke, spinal disorders, Parkinson’s disease, meningitis, encephalitis, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. COVID-19 Tests Still CoveredThe COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Declaration will end on May 11. Houston Methodist medical plans will continue to cover over-the-counter (OTC) laboratory tests for COVID-19 with or without a prescription with no out-of-pocket costs up to two tests per month.
