Temporary Traffic Management Credentials Framework - what it means for providers

The Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) sector has developed a TTM Credentials Framework to reflect the requirements of New Zealand’s new risk-based approach to TTM. This signals a move away from the CoPTTM training and warrant system administered by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, to the NZ Qualifications and Credentials Framework.

The TMO and STMS warrant system will end on 1 November 2024. This will be replaced by awarding the current unit standards or future skill standards as they become available.

New Zealand Certificate in Demolition (Level 3) – now available!

Demolition is one of the last high-risk industries to have nationally recognised training and Waihanga Ara Rau has been working with the industry to develop the first step in a new training pathway – a qualification and skill standards for people new to demolition. We have been fortunate to work with a dedicated group of industry representatives from the New Zealand Demolition and Asbestos Association (NZDAA), demolition companies, LINZ, WorkSafe, and training providers.

The New Zealand Certificate in Demolition (Level 3) and five new skill standards are now available for use by training providers, and we're excited for programmes leading to this qualification to be implemented across the country

New Zealand Certificate in Data Cabling (Level 3) – now available!

We have been working with representatives of the Data Cabling Industry to create the New Zealand Certificate in Data Cabling (Level 3).

Data cabling supports increasingly sophisticated data systems in commercial buildings, including IT, communications, security systems, fire protection systems, building automation, and medical and nurse call systems.

The New Zealand Certificate in Data Cabling (Level 3) and supporting skill standards are now available for use by training providers, and industry is looking forward to the delivery of the qualification to recognise the skills and knowledge required to perform commercial data cabling work.

The NAWIC Excellence Awards, provide an opportunity for organisations and individuals to recognise, be recognised, and celebrate the amazing mahi of wāhine in construction across Aotearoa, New Zealand.

It is clear from the amazing stories shared by honourees that there are great opportunities for women to shine right across the construction sector.

Meet our people

Tēnā koutou katoa, ko Kelley Marra tāku ingoa,  He Te Mata Kōkiri ahau ki Waihanga Ara Rau.

Hello! I am the Senior Pathways Advisor at Waihanga Ara Rau. My role is about supporting pathways into and through construction and infrastructure for both Industry and career seekers.

I am seeking case studies, initiatives, and success stories (no matter how big or small – it all makes a difference!) from your school or community that assist ākonga in transitioning into the construction & infrastructure workforce. Examples do not have to identify ākonga themselves.

These initiatives may be documented for the purpose of understanding best practice, sharing wider and to guide future projects. If you have any examples to share or highlight, or know of someone who might, please reach out to me at kelley.marra@waihangaararau.nz
