Visual Artist Clint Woods - A Recent Artist in ResidenceThank you Clint Woods for coming up for an Artist Residency and leaving behind so many gems. Clint painted the beautiful Doe Bay landscape on the masthead of this newsletter above, as well as these incredible pieces. We will have some of his work on display around the property. Clint is a Cincinnati-based art director and artist. He has been drawing as long as he can remember and finds it essential for daily living. Clint received the Hemera Foundation Tending Space Fellowship in 2014 and has continued to explore the intersection between observation, drawing, meditation, and teachings from wisdom traditions, particularly Buddhism. Hello, Goodbye & Hello Again
I used to freak out when favorite Doe Bay staff told us they were leaving. After about ten years, instead of crying and saying goodbye, I just say, "See you later!" Most of the really great ones come back. Welcome back to Molly and Jamie; two favorites! Please say hi to them in the Doe Bay Cafe this summer! Tos Fackenthall
Our community lost a friend last week, Tos Fackenthall. Some of the greatest Doe Bay Fest moments live on because Tos made them permanent through his photographs. Tos shared his last month with so many of us, culminating in a gathering on April 16th at the Abbey in Fremont. It was a celebration, a wake and a homecoming and Tos wasn't about to miss it. He left us less than 48 hours later. Here is my eulogy for my friend: Tos documented OUR Doe Bay Fest Journey and then took us with him on HIS incredible Final Journey. Thank you Tos, for sharing, for teaching and for preserving our memories! And especially for staying around long enough to let us tell you of your impact. JOE JOE IDEA - Bocce Ball at Doe Bay... let me know if you would like that. Pickleball is also being discussed. Joe@DoeBay.com

Write Doe Bay
Write Doe Bay - the 20th episode just happened at Doe Bay April 6 to 9. Jenn Furber has really come into her own, making the experience incredible. Music has continued to be a big part of this Writer's workshop because... well, because it is Doe Bay. My old and dear friend, Jacob Miller was back and his talent resume now includes teacher. As I said to Jacob, "Even if you didn't have such a beautiful voice and write such magical songs, everyone would want you in their band because of your guitar playing!" Chase Anderson, the harp-playing photographer or the photographing harpist, surprised everyone. Caitlin Jemma (a new friend) and Garrett Lamp (an old friend) made fun music and shared so many thoughts. I got to tell some stories, recite some poetry and got to know some wonderful people. Write Doe Bay 21 is in October. Write Doe Bay - A Pacific Northwest Writing Retreat on Orcas Island, WA You should really plan on attending!
Bloom TV & Imagine Two things happened at Doe Bay in Early September 2023…Imagine Festival and Bloom. The latter is a reality TV show which we squeezed into the festival. The team built an art and flowers installation on the beach at Doe Bay. It was typical Doe Bay and typical Imagine…each of the vegetables were made into electronic instruments that played sounds of the Salish sea when touched…You are invited to watch the Doe Bay / Imagine / Orcas Island episode of Bloom using this 30 day free trial link.. the episode premiers on May 2nd. And don’t forget that Imagine tickets are now on sale and it will sell out…. I hope to see you here on September 6, 2024!!

Bloom - Late night opportunist munching on flowers and greens Help of sorts, Wanted... Two things. 1.) We are always open to and in need of people who feel like camping and working a bit at Doe Bay. 2.) Also, this summer we will have film and video artists on the property in early June and late July. We are looking for some on island talent that might help us with a video/film project that we haven't fully designed yet. |
