UAE Reaffirms Strength and Commitment to US Partners

Marking the start of Eid al-Fitr during this challenging moment, UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba delivered a message of strength and resolve. He highlighted the resilience and unity of the Emirati people and all who call the UAE home.

The Ambassador reinforced this sentiment in a letter to the US-UAE Business Council, where he underscored the UAE's commitment to its US partners and determination to emerge stronger from the conflict.

As the UAE defends against unprecedented Iranian attacks, the US State Department rapidly approved a new defense package. These systems are essential to protecting the UAE and everyone who lives there.

Key developments and official statements this week underscored the UAE's robust economy and commitment to regional security:

  • Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology Dr. Sultan Al Jaber condemned recent Iranian attacks on Gulf energy infrastructure as "global economic warfare” and said any long-term settlement must address Iran's nuclear capabilities, missiles and proxies.

  • Envoy for Business and Philanthropy Badr Jafar wrote in the Wall Street Journal, "What Iran is attacking is an idea: that an open economy can flourish in one of the world's most contested regions.” He reinforced this message in an appearance on CNBC.

  • UAE Diplomatic Advisor Dr. Anwar Gargash indicated the UAE could participate in an international effort to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

  • Etihad Airways launched a non-stop flight from Charlotte to Abu Dhabi, as the UAE’s international airlines also gradually restore their full schedules.
