I want to start off this week by recognizing and celebrating a big part of our hospital - our incredible physicians. March 30 marks Doctors' Day - but I encourage all of you to stop one of our HMSL physicians this week and tell them thank you. Not only do they lead medicine here in Fort Bend County - but they provide healing, hope and comfort to so many. I'm grateful for all of our physicians and their commitment to excellence.
I also want to share with you all an exciting new program offered through our HR department. It is called Talent Talks Tuesdays and it was created to help you reach your career goals. If you have been at HMSL for less than a year and want more, I encourage you all to sign up and meet with an HR Talent Consultant. They can work with you on career guidance, interviewing coaching, resume building and more. I want you all to enjoy coming to work and feel fulfilled. There is more information about the program below in the newsletter, but I hope you all take advantage of this program designed specifically for you.
As we look ahead to the upcoming holiday weekend, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge Easter, a time of renewal and reflection for many in our community. Whether you celebrate or not, may this weekend be a time of rest and reflection.

MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDING 4
As our hospital campus continues to grow, several practices are relocating to Medical Office Building 4.
- Houston Methodist ENT Specialists - MOB 4 - Suite 400 (moved week of March 18)
- Houston Methodist Primary Care Group - MOB 4, Suite 600 (moved week of March 11)
- Houston Methodist Oncology Partners - MOB 4, Suite 325 (moved week of March 4)
- Houston Methodist Rheumatology Associates - MOB 4, Suite 300 (moved in Jan.)
- Houston Methodist Gastroenterology Associates - MOB 4, Suite 110 (moved in Oct.)
If you encounter a patient who is lost and don't know where to direct them, please direct them to an information desk for a campus map. You can also view our campus map here. We'll continue to share practice moves in this weekly newsletter.
BROOKS STREET
Clinical Education will be moving to our Brooks Street location - less than two miles away from HMSL. They will start offering classes in their new location starting April 8. Their new address will be:
1201 Brooks St., Suite 200.

Newsweek just released their list of America's Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 and our hospital is recognized as one of the leading hospitals across the nation. Houston Methodist Hospital was ranked #1 in Texas and Houston Methodist Sugar Land was recognized as the #23 ranked hospital in the state. Parking Reminder
As Houston Methodist employees, we made a commitment to keep our patients at the center of everything we do, including parking. When employees park in patient spots instead of designated employee parking, our patients have trouble parking and making it to their appointments on time, especially on rainy days. Doctor appointments can already be stressful. Let's do our best to not make them even more stressful for our patients by making parking difficult. Employee parking is highlighted below. Talent Talk Tuesdays
If you've been at HMSL less than a year, the new Talent Talks program is for you! If you want to get to the next level and grow in your career, schedule your 30-minute session with an HR Talent Consultant. They can help with resume building, interview coaching, mock interviews and career guidance. The program kicks off Tuesday, April 2, but registration is open now! Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 1-5 p.m.
HMSL Celebrates Certified Nurses
Thank you to all of our certified nurses who joined us last week to celebrate Certified Nurses Day. This day recognizes the invaluable contributions of nurses who have pursued advanced certifications in various specialties, demonstrating their commitment to excellence in patient care.
Show Your Astros Spirit
Major League Baseball’s season is about to start, and the Houston Astros will host the New York Yankees for their home opener on Thursday, March 28, at Minute Maid Park. Employees are encouraged to show their support by wearing Astros T-shirts or jerseys. Check with your manager to see if this is allowed in your area. Houston Methodist is proud to be the official health care provider for the Houston Astros.
HMSL 2024 Nurses Week Awards
The HMSL 2024 Nurses Week Awards will be awarded to nurses who represent the highest qualities in nursing. Prospective candidates for these awards strive to advance the nursing profession throughout the hospital and local community and also seek excellence through fostering accountability, demonstrating leadership, promoting collegiality, and participating in continuous learning. Also, the 2024 Nurse Champion Award will be awarded to a nonnurse who promotes the nursing profession throughout the hospital and in the community. Click here to submit your nominations. The deadline is Friday, March 29.
Basket Donations Needed
Is your basket ready? Remember it's time for our March of Dimes fundraising campaign - and you can support our smallest patients by donating a basket to be raffled off next month. Baskets are due to our fundraising chair Michelle Smith by April 3. When your basket is ready, please email Michelle with the basket's theme, approximate value, list of included items and your unit/department name. HMSL Delirium Awareness Day
Join us for our HMSL Delirium Awareness Day 2024 celebration next week. There will be interactive learning on safety, quality care and resources for our older adult patients. The event will be Friday, April 5 from 7:30-9:30 am. and 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. across from the Main Starbucks. There will be games, prizes and snacks! Click here for more information.
HMSL Family Science Night
More slots have been opened for HMSL Family Science Night! Our partners at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land are hosting HMSL employees and their families for an interactive evening on Friday, April 5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Click here to sign up. 5S Sort Journey - Fun Finds Competition
This is the last week of the 5S - Sort Phase, which means it's the last week to enter our 5S Fun Finds competition. Remember the winner in each category will win a Houston Methodist Stanley cup! Plus, the winning department will get three more Stanley cups to raffle! As you continue sorting through your areas, be on the lookout. We’re looking for winners in the following categories:
- Oldest item found
- Oddest item found
- Most expensive item found
Baytown, Clear Lake and Sugar Land will have one winner in every category. Those winners will compete for our grand champion titles.
Wellness Champions Winner
Wellness Services just announced their first Wellness Champion and it is Rachelle Williams, a transporter at HMSL! As a transporter, Rachelle pushes beds and stretchers all day. This prompted her to start her wellness journey. She was immediately drawn to the fitness classes and says she is always greeted with a warm welcome. Read more about Rachelle's wellness journey here.
System Quality and Patient Safety Symposium
You are invited to the Houston Methodist System Quality and Patient Safety Symposium. The event will be held on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at InterContinental Houston. The program will include reducing and preventing patient harm. Click here for more information.
