COLLECTIVE IMPACT - FINAL EVENT On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, participants from more than 30 different government departments, organisations and businesses attended the fifth and final collective impact project event. It was an opportunity to discuss the project’s key lessons and outcomes, explain the next steps, and to celebrate and strengthen community ties for those working to improve on-farm natural capital. SAF APRIL UPDATE January was mostly occupied by strategic planning and meetings with industry peak bodies such as VegetablesWA, PomeWest, and Chittering Landcare for future work and collaborations. These opportunities are always great for building purposeful relationships (new and existing) to strengthen our collective efforts in supporting the agriculture industry in WA. Local businesses rolled up their sleeves to fill bags with litter along Kwinana Beach and around Wells Park on Tuesday 11th March. Mayor Peter Feasey said the Business Beach Clean Up helped create a cleaner, healthier environment along the City’s beautiful coast. “This inaugural clean up strengthened community bonds, demonstrated business commitment to the environment, and allowed for networking all while getting behind a great cause on the 35th Clean Up Australia Day,” Mayor Feasey said. Photo Credit: City of Kwinana We met Preston Culbong under the sheoaks at Trigg Beach to learn about the Noongar season of Bunuru, the hottest and most humid time of the year. Marri trees are heavy with blossoms and Noongar people had made their way to coastal areas. Our walk took us on a journey from the low grey coastal vegetation adjacent to the sand dunes of Trigg Beach, into the swales of Trigg Bushland. Standing on the crest of a sand dune, in Trigg Bushland, we could see across to Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) and down along the coast to Walyalup. The next walk will be in Djeran at Piney Lakes.
