NEWS UPDATE14 August 2026 Publishers noteI love it when stories keep adding another chapter. A couple of weeks back, I was fascinated to read that a ship called Black Marlin had travelled from South Africa to Tasmania to transport the world’s largest battery-electric ship, 130 metres long, from Hobart to its new home in South America. Last week, we reported on the vessel’s loading, a fascinating story in its own right, and this week we report on its departure. A trilogy of sorts: it arrived, it loaded and it left. Whilst that may sound a little trivial, it is certainly not intended to. Incat’s achievement in creating the vessel is remarkable, but so too are the logistics involved in transporting the finished product to its new home. Well done to all involved. And on the subject of adding another chapter, all those involved in Airlie Beach Race Week appear to have had a wonderful time. With the event wrapping up yesterday, 13 August, we have had the honour of receiving some fabulous images, thank you Andrea Francolini, accompanied by wonderful words from sailing industry stalwart Di Pearson. Thank you, Di. We welcome your contributions which allow our industry to stay in the loop. You can read the daily reports below. Finally, a mention to the extended family and friends of Princess Yachts founder David King, who left us recently. Fair winds and following seas.
