April News

Our PBC flag fly's proudly once again as we push on into the second quarter of 2023. The Halyard's had been in dire need of replacing and a restoration was sorely needed to get it back up to scratch. We've also installed a brand new air conditioning system in the green room with dehumidifying capabilities. Warm in winter, cool in summer and dry all year round is the now highly achievable dream.

You might have noticed a lot of chatter in the press recently about us and our little community which all started with our "Pokies, Policy & Possibilities - an evening with Tim Costello" event we held last month. It has since grown and caught the attention of the wider community and media and we couldn't be more thrilled. These last few weeks our president George Catsi has been on ABC Radio Sydney, NZ Radio, Triple M Rush Hour, The Project tv, and The Today Show and has written an insightful and considered opinion piece for The Sydney Morning Herald which went viral and has been interviewed by Club Tic and News.com.

In the words of Tim Freedman, "We Blew up the Pokies!"

Untapped! Our new social network for beer lovers!

Check-in, rate and cheers us with your beer selections! Keep up to date with your favourites and see when we are pouring the ones you really wanna try.

Untapped me!

This months featured book

Pulitzer prize-winning author Michael Chabon's "Gentlemen on the road" is set in the Caucasus mountains around 950 AD. Two wandering adventurers live by their wits as tricksters and swords for hire until, following a bloody coup in the Jewish kingdom of the Khazars, they get dragooned into a fugitive prince's campaign to reclaim his throne. In this exhilarating tale of daring deeds, passion and friendship, Michael Chabon breathes fresh life - and winning humour - into the fables of old and delivers an irresistible novel.

Trivia Tuesdays

PBC Tuesday Trivia.

  • Do you know the difference between a capybara and a caipirinha?
  • Can you tell your Reginald Dwight from your Declan McManus?
  • Can you name all the countries which use the imperial system rather than metric?
  • Do you know which literary character has been played by Elizabeth Taylor, Kirsten Dunst and Florence Pugh?

All this intellectual ephemera and more may or may not come in handy when Tuesday Night Trivia returns for 2023.

We said a sad farewell to our beloved host Graham last year but fear not, new host Iain promises to keep the questions coming thick and fast in 2023.

Fun with friends - and cash prizes. Don't forget your gold coins for the jackpot round.

Round up your team and book your table.

Bookings via events@thepbc.org.au or walk-in's welcome!
