August, at the pbc!

I can personally attest that a few days rest has done wonders for the sore heads after the success of our 125th Anniversary ball. As George our club president said so aptly in his speech "it's not often you get to mark these milestones in life & throw a truly wonderful celebration so when they come along you've got to make them big!"

The pbc means so much to so many different people and it was beautiful to see the community young and old filling the club with spirit & life.

Some snapshots of the night below - taken by Lyndal Irons.

Our host with the most Carl!

Cheers to our new general manager, Carl!

With our darling Penny headed off to greener pastures the hunt has been on behind the scenes for the next general manager. We are thrilled that Carl, our longtime bar manager & loveable man of know how has accepted the esteemed position.

Penny & Carl have made a great team for the last 5 years.

The dynamic duo at our last country fair.

Bar news: Price increase on our bottom row beers.

Our beloved staples on the bottom row are having a little price increase. The last time this happened was four years ago and like all good things, they also must eventually be priced appropriately so we can keep the lights on.

The PBC Ball Publicity team!

Brain Drain PR

The pbc's very own Lulu who had worked in just about every position there was to be worked in at the pbc, moved on some months ago into full time public relations for her own firm Brain Drain PR.

We utilised Lulu and her business partner Aleisha's services to drum up excitement and give our wider community notice about the upcoming ball and what a fantastic job they did.

Their dedication and love for what they do really shone and we cannot recommend them and their firm enough.

Check em out! http://www.braindrainpr.com/

Thanks to Lulu & Aleisha you can read about us here: The Guardian, The Inner West Review, The Sydney Morning Herald & Broadsheet Sydney

On Friday the 29th of July Tony Armstong from ABC TV paid us a visit and did his nation wide live cross from the pbc. George Casti our president chatted with Tony in front of the pbc bar about what the club stands for & Penny our general manager & Andrew Lorien a local legend & friend of the club showed him a thing or two about bowls from the bottom green as the sun rose over a beautiful winters day.

Pictured below: Tony Armstrong crossing live from the pbc bar & Tony in his bowling whites with our pbc crew.

The pokie free model.

One of our lesser advertised, but highly important intentions behind our recent birthday celebrations was to remind the greater community that a pokie free model is absolutely possible.

Pictured above is George Catsi, our president, talking with Kerry O'Brien, a respected former ABC broadcaster & host of the 7:30 Report & Four Corners at a Bangalow Bowlo community meeting.

George was there to give insight on the pbc's pokie free business model as the Bangalow Bowlo is currently weighing up the options of staying as a community club or merging with a larger club that promotes poker machines.

It takes guts, passion & a whole lot of dedication to not only bring about change but see to it through year after year and our board members, past & present are the reason why the club stands as strong as it does and the future looks so bright.
