Perth is currently abuzz with all things UFC and rugby, ahead of the two blockbuster showdowns this weekend. These adrenalin-packed two days of sport are expected to bring thousands of out-of-state visitors to Perth and draw a significant broadcast audience, driving global attention to WA. The Wallabies vs Springboks test match is an even bigger drawcard given it is a fixture in the 2024 Rugby Championship. It will be the first time the Springboks have played a test match in Perth since 2017, and a long-awaited return to Optus Stadium for the Wallabies, since winning a match against England in 2022. UFC 305: DU PLESSIS vs. ADESANYA is equally as popular and was a swift sellout. The event is set to feature Perth's own recent Flyweight title contender Steve Erceg facing New Zealand's Kai Kara-France, in addition to the Du Plessis vs Adesanya showdown. The weekend of sport is complemented by the new non-stop flight between Johannesburg and Perth, which has made it easier than ever for fans to travel to WA to watch both the Springboks match, and South Africa’s UFC Middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis in action. A diverse mix of supporting events has been drumming up excitement across the city ahead
of the two major events, including a Welcome to Country held for both the UFC and rugby athletes at Kings Park and Botanic Garden on Tuesday, with content shared on social media. This unforgettable weekend for UFC and rugby fans promises to be a prime opportunity to drive significant visitor spend, showcase exclusive events, spotlight our premium tourism offerings to a global broadcast audience and reinforce WA’s capability as an international major events destination. I look forward to sharing the success of this epic weekend of sport. Warm regards,
