NEWS UPDATE27 March 2026 Publishers noteFrom time to time, even I have to ask the question: why? The news that appears on Marine Business News is not published en masse. Our stories are curated from many sources. Many that arrive in our newsroom can initially seem too obscure or too far removed from our industry. Interestingly, those are often the stories I find myself reviewing several times, just to make sure I have not missed something, especially given the interest the organisations providing them have in appearing in our news service. I can assure you, still dozens don't make the cut. So why do we have such diversity? Why do we at times run stories that may appear a little “obscure”? The answer comes from a lesson I learnt from an “industry elder” who, for fear of offending him, will remain nameless. That said, based on the lesson itself, I suspect many will know exactly who I mean. He once said that he sends his staff to industry events and conferences with the expectation that, from the entire conference, they will come away with one or two powerful lessons they can apply to their business. In publishing Marine Business News, we try to carry the same philosophy. I do not expect every reader to read every story. However, I can almost assure you that most stories contain a lesson, an opportunity or an idea that may be of value to someone in our industry. I have more than enough trouble keeping on top of my own business, so I do not pretend to be in a position to educate the industry. What I am happy to do, however, is provide a platform to share what I would call “opportunities”, which, in many ways, is entirely consistent with how we describe ourselves on our “About” page: “to share news and information to the recreational marine industry with the view of improving knowledge and supporting the growth and betterment of the industry”. We do hope you enjoy this week’s news. Marine Business News is an Australian-owned marine industry news service publishing local and international news.
