The eagerly anticipated Qantas non-stop flight between Paris and Perth is now underway! Perfectly timed ahead of the Paris Olympics, the flight will operate four days per week throughout the European summer and continue three times per week from mid-August. It’s the second non-stop connection between Continental Europe and Perth (alongside Qantas’ existing service from Rome) and will add more than 37,500 additional inbound seats from mainland Europe to Perth each year. To mark the occasion, several celebrations and formalities were held over
the past week, including a launch event with Tourism WA Chair Di Bain at Perth Airport on Bastille Day, 14 July. Speaking of anticipated arrivals, this week the WA Cruise Exchange docked in Perth, which saw dozens of cruise industry executives convene to discuss the booming WA cruise industry.
Cruising contributed $333 million and more than 1,000 jobs to the local economy in 2022-23, with Fremantle Port welcoming more than 36,000 passengers and 17,000 crew across 30 cruise visits this year. Further north, Broome Port also celebrated a bumper cruise season last financial year, with 74 vessels carrying over 30,000 passengers and crew to the Kimberley in 2023-24. The WA Government committed an additional $1 million over four years in the 2024-25 State Budget, to grow the cruise industry and support Tourism WA’s Western Australian Cruise Tourism Strategic Plan 2023-2033. It is an exciting time for cruising in WA and this investment signals incredible opportunities for operators to leverage this growing market.
