Tuesday 19 August, 6:30 pm to 8 pm | Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre Get your hands dirty for a good cause! Join the dedicated volunteers from the Friends of Sturt River Landcare Group for a fun and rewarding morning at Oaklands Wetland and Reserve! You'll be showing some love to a special revegetation site planted back in 2015 that needs some TLC! Help us bring the area back to life by planting trees, shrubs, grasses, and pollinator-friendly plants. You’ll also lend a hand with some weeding and watering to keep this important area thriving. It’s a great way to connect with nature, meet like-minded locals and make a real difference for the environment. Sunday 27 July, 9:30 am to 12 pm | Oaklands Wetland Grab a plot at Trott Park Community Garden 5 plots at Trott Park Community Garden, are ready and waiting for you to grow fresh fruit and veggies in them! Tucked away behind Trott Park Community Centre, the garden has individual wheelchair accessible plots, communal garden beds, fruit trees and biodiversity plantings. The Trott Park Community Garden is open for visitors on Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm. Marino Repair café is a volunteer run organisation who repair household goods, teach people new skills and save broken appliances from landfill. Their friendly volunteers can repair your electrical items, computers, woodwork, bikes, toys, jewellery and sewing repairs (but not alterations). Sunday 20 July, 1 pm to 4 pm | Marino Community Hall, Newland Ave, Marino Discover the cultural heritage of Warriparinga WetlandJoin a guided cultural tour through the beautiful Warriparinga Wetland and learn about its deep Aboriginal cultural significance facilitated by Southern Cultural Immersion. Led by a local Aboriginal guide, this interactive walk explores the stunning grounds while sharing stories of history, culture and connection to Country. Wednesday 9 July, 4 pm to 5 pm | Online via Teams Fungi hunt for science! Do you want to find some cool fungi species all in the name of science? This is your chance to join the Fungi for Function surveys! They are a great way to learn more about our precious native fungi and develop the confidence to identify and record these 28 target species. You'll be out in the fresh air, getting some exercise and learning about fungi, with a warm-hearted and friendly bunch of people - what could be better!
