NEWS UPDATE03 July 2026 Publishers noteThe products and conveniences of life we see and touch every day all start with human interaction. Whether it is an idea, the identification of a need, or simply adapting a product or service to improve our lives, there is always a journey behind what eventually comes to market. In what is a special moment in time for Dometic, the company has taken its DG3 Gyro Stabilisation range and developed a docu-commercial short film, called The Voyage, designed to share the journey from concept to market. Its relevance brings a reality to what many in our industry do, but perhaps do not always recognise. I am the first to walk around a boat show and ooh and aah at products. If you look at my screensavers, they are pictures of my “future boats”. The reality is that these products and boats only become possible because of the endless effort of capable industry people, who help bring this enjoyment into our lives. Take a moment to read the story and watch the docu-commercial The Voyage. It brings home the reality that the heartbeat of our industry is often behind the scenes and rarely thought of. Well done Dometic. I am looking forward to hearing more about this journey. On a sombre note, a quick reminder that a Community Memorial recognising the sacrifice and service of Marine Rescue Ballina volunteers Bill Ewen and Frank Petsch, who lost their lives during the Ballina 30 rescue tragedy on May 4, will be held on Sunday 5 July, 11am at RSL Memorial Park, Ballina, beside Ballina RSL club. For those wishing to pay their respects but unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at https://www.marinerescuensw.com.au/ballinamemorial. The link will also be available on the Marine Rescue NSW Facebook page.
