Saturday Edition
Well, hello there, members, and welcome to another wonderful Saturday! Ah, it's nice to be joining you all again for another weekend edition of our newsletter. So, how are you all feeling today? I (Vella) am recovering from a sore throat so imagine me with a soothing cup of honey lemon tea as I write this to you. And I'll imagine you all with a cup of tea (or coffee, or whatever your beverage of choice may be) in hand as you read this! Oh, and I'll add a cheeky bikkie, too, because why not?
We hope you’ve all had a smashing week and are ready to enjoy the next two days to the fullest! And if you'll let us, we'd like to add a little something to your weekend plans in the form of our weekend newsletter. We have a whole bunch of fun things planned for you all today so without further ado, let’s jump right in!
First things first, let’s go over the answer to yesterday’s riddle, shall we?
Who will never be hungry during Christmas?
The answer is...a stuffed turkey, of course! Oooh, it seems like Christmas dinner is on a lot of your minds. So, if you got it right, give yourself a little pat on the back because you've earned it! You'll also find a shout-out waiting for you further down this newsletter.
Now, let’s move on to our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ Today, we are looking at the term ‘W’. Kids these days can be so mysterious that sometimes, they only use a single letter to express something. ‘W’ is an abbreviated term for the word ‘win’. Kids use this letter as another way of saying they won or a proclamation of victory. For example, your grandkid just aced their test; you can tell them that’s a win or a ‘W’! So next time your grandkids do something worthy of celebration, tell them they did a great job, and that’s a ‘W’!
Now, for the results of ‘Your Say Sunday’. As a reminder, the question was, ‘What's one thing you wish you had more of?’ The options included ‘money, fame, time and love’. And the winner with 56.3% of votes is… Time! Love came in second place with 28.1%, and not far behind, in third place was money (15.6%). Interestingly, there were zero votes for fame. Others opted to explain their vote in
the comments. Curious? Check out what they said here.
Thank you to everyone who participated. I think it’s important to look at the big picture every now and then, and it goes to show that we should remember to make the most of the time we have left and cherish those we love.
Keep an eye out for our next 'Your Say Sunday' tomorrow morning.

Today's 'Yesterday's Australia' segment is thanks to our dear member @Rusty Anne. They shared this lovely memory with us as an entry into our Christmas Competition, and it's one we just had to share! ‘Every Christmas, my sister & I looked forward to our Christmas Stocking, which consisted of a pair of Dad's socks stuffed with fruit and loads of treats. We even would forgot our rare bacon & egg breakfast for our treats, then sit on the front step in our bathers with huge slices of watermelon, having seed spitting competitions.’
Aww, the anticipation of Christmas morning. Waking up early, eager to see what Santa has left in your stocking. There’s nothing quite like it! Thank you, @Rusty Anne, for sharing this memory with us.
