Welcome to the NSCLC Patient Gateway newsletter for May 2023.

This edition of the newsletter follows several developments. There is still growing evidence of the importance of biomarker testing in patients diagnosed with NSCLC, and we are seeing advances including use of liquid biopsy to identify actionable biomarkers. Sadly, we continue to see challenges with accessing biomarker testing and appropriate targeted therapy, as shown by the report looking at patients who are on Medicaid.

We are also seeing progress in the treatment of early-stage NSCLC, with increased use of immunotherapy before (neoadjuvant) or after (adjuvant) surgery. Finally, this edition looks at efforts to address some of the complications of late-stage disease, including brain metastases and the extreme wasting that sometimes occurs in patients with advanced disease (cachexia).
